Hi -

We have a 2017 R25 SC and recently had our 100 hour service on Volvo our Penta D3 (Just under 200 hours on the engine). There are no leaks, and all routine maintenance was performed.

The technician noted a brown stain around the lower transmission cover on both sides.

Again, there were no leaks or other noticeable stains and said the boat is fine to run but to keep an eye on it.

Is it possible this is build up from running at low RPMs. This spring/early summer have all been in the harbor and we haven’t ran it at high RPMs in several months.

First boat and new to RT - just looking for some ideas/recommendations on what it could be.

Appreciate it!

Hi ER,

Yes, engines and transmissions could potentially weep a bit if the seals do not get a bit of exercise occasionally. Having said that though, not being able to see what's happening, anything I try to add at this point would only be conjecture. I think you're safe to listen to the tech and keep an eye on things but not worry too much at the moment.

Cheers,

Ralf
