The Ranger Tug factory supplied carpet in the cabin has a black rubber backing that is deteriorating. When the carpet is lifted the black rubber sticks to the teak and holly wood floor. This started to happen last year but it is getting much worse now. Anyone else experience this? Any remedies?

What year is your boat? I had this happen with a Regal and it'll get worse and worse. Unfortunately the black rubber backing is cheap and will ultimately just disintegrate. I suggest pulling out the carpet and doing without (which is what we did) or replacing with carpet with better backing.

We've resigned ourselves to using essentially disposable carpet. We buy cheap(i.e.under $100), rubber backed carpet, use it until the backing starts to deteriorate, then replace it. Ours lasts a couple of seasons with half a dozen passes each season through the washing machine.

Hi Brian
On my 2011 I had carpet in the cockpit from the factory, and it is the same way. I suppose they do not last forever. I looked at replacing it with new teak and holly looking carpet and the price for me was prohibitive. I just as other have said got something from a store that works for now. I did a lot of research and found there are no deals for the teak and holly look.

My original teak carpet backing deteriorated also. I applied Plasti Dip to the back and it lasted 2 years. I have since purchased new Teak carpeting through Corinthian Marine Carpet have been pleased with their product.

I purchased this carpet on Amazon and installed it today. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00 ... x_3_w?th=1
It cuts easily with scissors or razor blade and does not fray when cut, I used the original as a template. The 6'x10' for $95.00 will make two center aisle runners. Time will tell how it stands up but I figure when it wears out I will just cut out another one.
