Categories of tugs on the forum???

Sorry if this has been asked but would it not make sense to have categories of Tugs on the Forum? For example, the lowly, R21-EC would likely benefit from its own group. The systems are simpler, the questions are likely similar, etc. I for one feel that as an owner of a R21 we are seen differently anyway, so why can’t we set up our own group/topic? Not trying to piss anyone off here, just asking. Thanks.

I agree with this idea, it would be nice and easier to search per class of boat.

I think what is most important is that people list their type of boat and year. Many times it is missing. Usually when I see a topic and the boat type I choose whether to open it or not. Sometimes a question is asked and the year model can make a difference with the answer. Also, you could very well have a question that a different model owner may have a answer to and if you are in a special category it may not be seen by that person.
The other thing I have found from experience is when you try to make a program have the ability to meet everyone's desires it starts to get pretty complex.

In addition to Mike's comments there are a lot of post topics that cross all model sizes. Topics such as anchoring, GPS charting, trailering, staying in RV parks, destinations, events and many others that are important to all of us. Lastly there are many Tugnuts that have owned a few different size Ranger Tugs or Cutwaters....would they want to be checking in on each separate models post or just the one they currently own? Having the size of boat you currently own in your post goes a long way for making post management easier to maneuver, in my opinion.

I have no problem with the current arrangement. I have a classic 21 and really enjoy reading the adventures and tech problems of the other classes of Tugs. I do feel part of the family. 21's and EC's need to post more pix and more of their own adventures to liven up the general forum. After all, 21's were the beginning of the breed I'm told.

Try using Advanced Search (white type upper right corner under the search box / also accessed via the Search link in the blue menu upper left of home page).

Combining various portions of the page to create a focused return. For instance,

In Search Query section type R*21 in the Search for Keywords (the * is a wild card, so R21 and R-21 and R 21 will all be found (with or without EC being included)

AND

In the Search Options box select Ask the Ranger Factory, or Owner Customizations, etc.

You'll get posts about R21, R-21, R 21 models in that forum.

Narrowing your search by using multiple criteria works well. I've found the * to be very helpful, and avoids having to do multiple searches.
