Our boat stays in the water year round. Twice each year, we have a diver check the hull, replace zincs etc. Couple of interesting items. The prop zinc was gone..the bolt was in place., so it eroded away. The hull zinc was 90 pct gone but the trim tab zincs were in good shape. I had a galvaniv isolater installed last year. The stern thruster tube was almost fully blocked with barnacles. Just barely enough space for the impeller to spin. Need to figure out how to apply anti fouling paint in the thruster. At the Roche Harbor rendezvous, I noticed that the underwater lights were dim. They were covered in growth, but not much can be done about that. The exposed wire to the underwater lights are a popular spot for mussels! The latter items are mostly cosmetic, but I want to figure a solution to the thruster tube barnacles.

My prop zinc this year was installed by a professional, there seems to be few around these days,he was setting a new PSS seal (stuffing box replacement). Included on the zinc bolt was sealant, washer and lock washer. Several blows with a hammer on end of zinc and tighten the living hell out of it. Still good after 100 hrs.of motor power. Good luck gerry

I have a diver clean bottom stuff monthly,, stuff grows fast in FL.
He suggested running the thrusters every week - 10 sec each direction to chop up the critters.
Also fire up electronics, generator, AC units and engine and let warm up at least every other week.
Isolator is necessary in salt water.
