Headed to Desolation in July and my wife has never been in a situation where she has not been able to keep contact with her clients and her business responsibilities. Trying to make the trip comfortable for her in regard to her business and to keep her stress low or non existent. Has anyone used a cellular signal enhancement antenna in the Desolation area? If so did it work well? Any other options I should consider for cell reception or internet access that has worked for others?

It will be interesting to see if others have tried signal boosters, what their experiences have been. Also first hand experience from those who have been on this trip in the past.

I got this link from another boating site http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html which shows where the individual Canadian operators towers are, but it doesn't appear to show how far that coverage extends. I'm pretty sure all US carriers have agreements in place with either Rogers or Telus, so at least that part shouldn't be an issue.

Depending on the route you take, you may only be without cell coverage for the short stint while crossing the channel from Comox to Gorge (and from what I gather from this map, no direct coverage in Gorge either  ). I hope Gorge Harbour Marina would offer WiFi? If your phone/carrier supports WiFi calling, you may be able to switch over to that once in Gorge.

You might want try contacting KVH antennas, I believe they have a sat antenna that will work in Canada (not cheap).

We were up in Prideaux Haven and I had two bars on my Verizon. Internet was slooow. Check out slowboat.com, under feature articles, page 2, "Our Five Favorite Boat Upgrades" (#2) they go into detail with links, on how they maintain connections with their boat in Deso and farther north.

Thank you for the info so far! Appreciate it

I would set an expectation that you won't get a signal 🙂 😉
