Any harm using larger 240ah battery versus the 90ah group 27 batteries. It should still fit.

Bigger is always better if the physical size is not a problem. Make sure they are deep cycle.

I assume you are referring to using a single 12 volt 8D sized battery to replace two 12 volt Group 27 sized batteries. If that’s the case, just remember how heavy an 8D battery is (125-170 pounds) and the difficulty of placement and removal.
On the other hand, if you are referring to replacing two 12 volt Group 27 batteries with two 6 volt Golf Cart batteries in series, they would be much easier to place and remove and weigh a more manageable 60-70 pounds each.
Both these options would give you the 230 to 240 amp hours you mentioned.

Never thought about the 6 volt in series (great idea). 12v is 130 pounds and each 6v are 62 pounds at 220 ah.

Thanks for the advice!!

Keep in mind when hooking up batteries in series gives you the voltage of each battery combined, BUT the amperage of a single battery stays the same. Parallel keeps the voltage the same as the single battery, BUT double the amperage.
