Hi all,

I would like to know if anyone has had any experience with the recent promotions regarding a clear ceramic coating being applied to all the smooth surfaces of your boat. The companies claim a super gloss hard finish that protects the gelcoat for a minimum of five years. They say that there is no need to wax at all once the application is done, simply wash the boat with soap and then rinse. Thanks for responding.

I am getting ready to try a sample of this miracle ceramic treatment on the brows on my R31 to see if it helps with the oxidation. I will report back what I find.

I am curious if anyone else has tried this. I have a heck of a time keeping the brows of the boat looking good.

Tug Traveler.....what is your ceramic product of choice? I'm game for a try on the brow of my tug....and then?????

Catch 22 I am going to try Permanon Platinum. I have no idea if this is the "best" stuff to use or not.

What is weird on the brows is if I polish and wax the surface it is glossy. But when you look at the gelcoat it is almost as if the color is changing underneath the surface. The surface still beads water no problem, but the color is off.

Very frustrating. I think the right answer is probably paint, but I am not willing to do that on a boat that is only two years old.

I’ve heard it can take the place of bottom paint. I’d love to hear about any experiences with the product.

I hate bottom paint...well, you hit a button!

I have a 2013 CW28 with a ruby red hull. A year ago I paid a lot of money to have the boat detailed. It looked good but within a month it was chalky again. I compounded and waxed it again with minimal results. Now it looks like it was dry waxed with 150 grit!! I recently wet sanded (600/800/1000), compounded, polished and waxed the brows and the visor. I used 3M rubbing compound, 3M Finesse It II Glaze polish, and Colinite Fleetwax. It looked much better but you can still see some hazing under the shine. I also made covers to keep the sun off. When it gets cooler here in SC (and the waters recede) I plan to do the hull. I looked into using a ceramic product also. I may still try it if I hear some good feedback. I realize that I'm never going to get her looking new but I would like my results to last longer. Just doing the brows was labor intensive. I'm also making covers for the hull and transom. My next boat will be white on white!!
