Hi everyone: I realise this topic has been addressed previously but thought it worth mentioning again, if only as a safety reminder to check all our hoses from time to time. Recently, while fooling around in the bilges (as all ex-Navy Stokers do from time to time) I discovered that both heater hoses had suffered minor gouging to the underside where they pass through the circular hole in the fibreglass bulkhead between the engine bay and the bilge cavity leading to, and under, the main transverse bulkhead beneath the wheelhouse door. On closer inspection I found that the hoses were chafing on the f'rd bottom edge of the round bulkhead gland fitting installed by the factory. This circular gland is screwed on the engine ('aft) side where it is smooth and flush with the bulkhead, however the other side has an acute edge which is causing the damage. The catalyst for this, of course, is the jerking movement in the hoses once the engine is started and is particularly noticeable at idle or slow speed. This problem is easily remedied. I simply got some garden hose, softened it in boiling water, sliced it lengthways and lined the entire circular access hole. Further, I bought some thick, clear plastic hose from my local hardware shop, sliced it lengthways and fastened it around both heater hoses with cable ties. Now, no matter how much vibration, the hoses will no longer chafe at this position. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Stevan.

Good info. Thanks.
