The cockpit overhead light on the entry door overhang is not illuminating. I need to access the bulb and socket to troubleshoot. I’ve tried twisting and gently prying on the ring holding the light globe in place with no joy. How is that thing removed?

I removed mine a few years ago. If I remember right I think it snaps onto the socket base. Is it easier to remove the switch and see if power is going through the switch?

Good idea. I will give that a try if it’s not going to open another can of worms. My specialty!

My experience is that it is a switch connection issue. That light is LED and should last forever. I assume you checked the fuse?

I had a similar issue with the overhead light not working just outside the door on my 2012 R27. It turned out to be a loose blade connection on the back of the switch on port side just inside the doorway. I took the cave panel off behind the switch and noticed the wire was not long enough to reach and the blade had been bent down to fill the distance. It eventually wiggled off. Some gentle tugging on the wire got an extra 1/2" of length and that made all the difference. GF

Hi Bill,

On my 2012 R27, the panel hiding the cockpit door light switch is directly behind it in the cave and also has a light fixture. The panel is held in place with four screws that on my boat are visible (see picture). Perhaps on yours they are buried in the monkey fur?

Once the panel is removed you should see something like this:

You can actually see the bend blade connection in the top cut out in the picture. The lower cut out is for the Solar panel monitor. Hope this helps, GF
