So my C28 is now 10 yrs old so I decided to go through the electrical system to ensure I didn't have any impending failures. Sure glad I did. Found several loose conections, coroded terminals and one inline fuse holder that had melted. Also the nut on the case ground to the inverter had fallen off and the neutral connection was badly burned. Decided to remove the inverter since we rarely use it anyway. Word of warning to you guys, if you remove the aft flip seat then check for any cable lugs in the cable runs, all three of mine were loose.
I also validated the owners manual wiring diagrams against the fuse blocks. This cleared up several misconceptions I had about how the boat is wired. But there is one circuit on the boat I can't seem to understand and is not on the diagrams and that's a 'charging relay' circuit that comes off the unswitched engine fuse block. Red wire with yellow electrical tape exiits the fuse terminal, disappears aft and apparently reappears at the ACRS entering both LED terminals of the ACRs. This makes me think there is a remote LED somewhere. The label on the wire is consistent with the factory wiring. Does anyone have a remote ACR LED? Where is it?
