Hello all. My wife and I are strongly considering a 25SC and as we live in the Tampa area, am interested in thoughts on how the boat handles 2-4' seas? The bay is very similar to the Great Lakes in that is goes from glass to sloppy very quickly.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

We have a 2010 25SC and use it primarily on Narragansett Bay in RI. The bay can be glass in the morning but when the prevailing SW wind picks up in the afternoon it can easily turn into a 2-3' chop. The boat cuts right through it effortlessly. I've had it in 5' seas off shore and felt very comfortable with its handling with white water breaking over the boat.
I often tell people who ask how the boat handles rough water and my reply is "the boat can take more punishment than its crew can".
We are very happy with our tug, we recently spent over 3 weeks on the boat traveling over 800 NM.

Seems like we had a saying in the Navy:

"It aint a boat unless it rocks"

Had our 27 in 5 ft seas one time for an hour or so and slinging stuff around, but never felt like boat was getting away from us. But glad that's the exception rather than the rule.

Our first weekend on our R27, we came home in a 3 ft. chop. I came from a sail boat, so this was a challenge for me. Basically, I adjusted my speed to time the waves and tried to take them on as close to 90 degrees as possible. Just use your common sense and the boat will do great.

Thanks to all That'll make the "Boss" much happier! Coming from outboard boats she's had it with my "beating her around the bay" as she says!
Again thanks to all for the replies and info. Happy tugging!

Our R25 lives on the Santa Barbara Channel off the coast of So CAL. We have been out in seas over 8 feet. As long as you quarter the waves and adjust speed to stay on the back side of the waves... no problem. Wondered why there were wipers on the forward glass. They are handy when the water over the bow is washing the radar dome and pools up on the hatches overhead. A smooth day out here is 3 - 4 foot waves.

Hi Steve,

We have a 25SC on the Chesapeake Bay, near Annapolis. We're hoping to purchase a house soon in Punta Gorda Isles and have the boat trucked down. The boat is tough! I hate it when people say, "what a cute boat." We're been in some rough weather, including six foot plus wakes from the big docking tugboats!
