My Clarion M309 radio has pathetic station reception. The owner's manual gives no information about the unit's wiring harness or antenna. I looked for an installation manual on line, but to no avail. Does anyone know if the unit has an external antenna or could be outfitted with one?

If your boat is like mine, the antenna wire hang inside a cupboard. The reception is pretty bad on mine too... An external antenna in the mast would be a good investment if you want to use the radio often, I will get myself an external antenna soon, because it is very hard to pick up radio stations even if we are close to the city...

For the wiring that can connect to an antenna, the link here shows were to plug an antenna on the back of your radio, check this out... http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/att ... 1371616174

Let me know it this help.

On our boat the FM antenna supplied was a coiled up piece of coax. Reception was poor. We added a Digital Yacht antenna for FM and the TV. The TV part works better they the supplied TV antenna and amplifier but what is available program wise as far as content can come up way short. Our Ranger supplied FM radio is much improved now. On a previous boat we added a 4" Shakespeare antenna on an adjustable ratchet mount that came with it's own coax so it could be lowered. It also worked well and that was tied into the Clarion FM radio receiver. Pictures of the Digital Yacht antenna are shown in our album if you are interested.
