what is the best thing to clean the cockpit ceiling with and what to but on the wood after you get it clean

After two seasons (on the water all the time) we sanded ours down and finished with teak oil. Looks great and will be easier to maintain.

Cheers,

Bruce

A good Wood question. Varnished Teakwood and Bare Teak need to be treated differently. An Old Salt, "Jay", at LBYS says to just go to a computer & look it up on any search engine like Google or Yahoo. Type in "How To" refinish Varnished Teakwood. And Print the steps.. And then "How to" refinish Bare Teakwood & Print it. It gets done right easy and quick if you just go by those steps. He says that these refinishing steps are about the same anywhere you go. So This way, you won't have to scribble 'em all out. -LadyJane

We just rubbed ours with some Starbrite teak oil which we had in stock. That seemed to brighten it up. The first application seemed to clean off the mold or dirt. We gave it a second rub less dirt and kept rubbing it till the rag showed no signs of dirt. We will see how it goes. If it turns into a regular pain I'll replace it with a more maintenance free material. Maybe Pergo flooring or something along that line.

I did same. Used a sponge brush to apply Starbrite teak oil. Looks great
