On my boat, the trailer light wiring harness laid free in the anchor locker. When lowering or raising the anchor, I had to make sure the wiring harness was out of the way of the anchor rode. Today, I installed two clips in the anchor locker to hold the trailer light wiring up and out of the way of the anchor rode. The clips are identical to the ones on the roof of the boat that hold the flex tubing carrying wiring to the mast. The wiring harness easily pulls out for when it is needed.

I know this post is two years old, but I plan to do this same thing. Did you have to drill a hole for those clips? How do they attach? Got a link to them? I like having things neat and tidy and never liked that cord just wadded up in there and in the way.

Yes, I did drill pilot holes to accommodate the screws that hold the clips to the wall of the anchor locker. The clips could be glued to the anchor locker wall with epoxy or maybe 3M 5200 if desired.

The clips are exactly the same as the clips that hold the split flex tubing that carries wiring to the along the roof to the mast on my boat. I’m not familiar enough with the R23 to know whether it has the same arrangement. I believe the clips are sized to hold 1” circumference items.

The mod has worked exactly as I had hoped it would.

Great work around Bill. Where did you purchase them? I’m not sure if the R25OB we’ll be picking up soon has this harness or not but if so I’ll want to implement. Hope to see you next summer. The Great Lakes Rendezvous is August 14-16 in Traverse City, Michigan.

These are the clips. If your new boat comes with the same arrangement of trailer wiring run inside split flex tubing, measure the outside diameter of the tubing and order a pair of these in the size you need:

At the end of July, I will likely tow the boat to Oshkosh for the EAA airshow and cruise afterwards, but that part of the plan is still up in the air.

I did the same thing with a large 3M Command hook (the plastic one) with the adhesive strip. So far it has worked great and the harness stays put even in rough water. No holes drilled.
