Cockpit Freshwater Faucet/Showerhead

Looking for ideas...This weekend, one of our dogs turned on the faucet and we were unaware of it until the water tank ran dry and the cockpit carpet was soaked (the sink was covered). I'd like to disable the faucet in a convenient way. I'm thinking of installing quarter turn bayonet (ball-cock) valves in the lines under the cockpit sink.Has anyone else done that? Or is there a better solution? We're keeping the dogs.

Other than what you are thinking of, you could just turn off the breaker for the water pump.

Sorry I meant the fresh water faucet, not the salt water wash down. Need to keep the fresh water pump on.

I had shut offs put in for the cockpit fresh water lines. However, the shut offs need to be down in the bilge. That allows you to turn off and drain those lines in the winter and still use the rest of your water system (here in the Pacific NW, we boat in the winter).

The cockpit water system is really vulnerable to freezing....

On Andiamo, the faucet in the cockpit has a horizontal pin that is a valve. Push the pin to one side and the water will not come out even if the knobs are turned.

Fred, I was considering putting a valve to drain all the cockpit faucets the cockpit sprayer is nearly useless anyway to me since pressure is pretty wimpy on a 31 since way back by the swim platform.

Might be better to put the valve inside though - right after the line splits from the pump rather than in cockpit area

We also installed ballcock valves on the cockpit sink lines. They are located close to the raw water through-hull, and I used ballcocks
that have a freeze drain so I can empty those lines. I did the same with the line running to the raw water deck wash line. During the freeze last winter the deck wash pump froze, then thawed. The pump filter cracked and I raw water was rushing into the bilge. The freeze also damaged the sink faucet. I am trainable; now all those lines are drained and proper heat in the engine room during cold weather.
