Hi, The teak cockpit locker doors in the Shearwater are in need of refinishing. They were oiled teak, but that long since turned black from mold.

Should I clean off the mold and:

1. Varnish the doors?
2. Cetol the doors?
3. Paint the doors white?

thanks - I've got to do something and I hate to do it over and over.

uuuuh, if it is on a boat and it is varnished you will do it over and over
The doors take a beating - they are down in a sun tan parlor where not only direct UV but reflected UV hits them
Cetol will last longer than spar varnish.
So you only need to sand and recoat with Cetol every other year
I would, and did, use Cetol
Hanging a cloth flap down over the doors to keep direct sun off will prolong the finish
The final fix will be to get custom made doors out of Starboard , five hundred bucks or so

We did the starboard doors in the cockpit...works and looks great...easy install...no maintenance...you can see them on my album.
