As you know, I like improving the comfort on our tug and share the results. My next project is to correct an issue that bugs me since day one. The backrest in the cockpit seat! Everytime that we sit and lean on the backrest (all three of theme do it) we feel the tubing on our back and the lower part of the backrest moves outwards as well . I am kind of thinking about running a single stainless steel wire from on end on the port side all the way to the other end on the starboard to prevent the backrest to move outwards. this would solve this problem, but at the top, we would still feel the tubing against our back. I thought about stuffing some memory foam in there, but Wonder if anyone as done a mod related to the backrest already? If so, what did you do and did it work?

We totally agree Pat. The back cushion or rail needs work. We purchased an adjustable chair from West Marine that works well. The first mate generally sets it on the engine cockpit and loves the comfort. It also folds flat for easy storage. I've also made underwater lights that can be deployed off the stern rail when anchored. I can adjust the depth with the attached cable. It all runs off a 12 volt accessory panel I installed by the shore power inlet. There's pictures in my album.
Cheers!

What I have done is add a strap in various places to the back of the cushions and a snap screwed into the ledge. This holds the cushions from tipping back and not being too comfortable. Make sure you put the snaps on top of the ledge so the lid will clear them. Works great.,

Sounds great John thanks for the tip, I'll try that. I will most likely get our Upholstery Technician at our marina to add an extension at the bottom of all three seat, so that we do not feel the tubing anymore we lean on it... It has a tendency to go downwards when we sit...
