I have owned a 32 uniflite for the past 17 years and looking to upgrade to a newer more efficient boat for cruising, diving and regular trips to Catalina island. Couple questions.
Looking at models , 2015-2017, with a 260 hp Volvo. With a full tank of gas and 2-3 on board, what can I expect for top speeds off the Southern California coast? Typical cruising speeds?
Am I really going to get 1.75 to 2 mpg at 15 knots? Bit of an improvement from my .8.
Dependability of these Diesel engines? The local mechanics in my area tell me parts are much more expensive vs Cummings or yanmar.
Have not done sea trial yet but wondering how these boats do when waves are breaking against the beam which we deal with going to Catalina. My flattter bottom uniflite ends up drifting a bunch so I look like a guy swimming backstroke with one leg longer than the other.
3 refrigerators without a generator? Do these solar panels really work that well?
