Cooktop won't light

I have a relatively new (2018) 31 CB and can't get the cooktop to light. Here's what I've tried:

1) Turn on cooktop breaker on AC panel
2) Connected propane tank and open valve (100 psi at pressure indicator)
3) Turn solenoid switch to on and display now show 2 green lights including the one associated with the valve
4) Rotate burner control valves 90 degrees counterclockwise and push in
5) While implementing number 4: push ignitor button (spark visible).


What am I doing wrong - there seems to be no sign of gas (sound or smell from the burner) yet the propane tank is full connected, valve on and the solenoid control interface indicating that the valve is open?

Ps. Until now we have never used the stove but are presently far from home and need it.

The first use sometimes needs time to get all the air out of the lines. It sounds like you are doing everything right, so you may just need to do it longer.

Also, as I recall, one should continue to hold the knob in for a few seconds after it lights. This helps (IIRC) to ensure that the thermocouple warms up and doesn't cut the supply again.

Yes.... I also had this issue when first using my propane stove. The first two postings here are correct. Have patience and it should light up.

One other thing, I believe there is a safety valve in the propane tank and if it got turned on too quick it could "shock" the system and close off. Try turning the tank valve off and back on gently if the other posts don't work for you.

Do you hear the gas coming out of the burner? And do you smell the gas? If you hear the gas and don't smell it then, as stated, it my have to be run a bit to purge the air. If you don't hear the gas with burner turned to on and depressed then it could be a stuck safety valve in the cylinder. If you are smelling the propane with valve on and depressed try lighting it with a match. Even if you see the spark, sometimes it just does not want to light with the igniter.

We had the same problem on our new R27 O/B until I reread the Manual: To ignite (assuming propane available and valve open) MUST push the gas knob IN -and HOLD for 20 secs, to allow thermocouple to heat, which then holds valve open and allows gas-flow to burner(s).
