That table top is the bunk floor which is why it is that size.
Being that we do not have guests on our boat overnight I made a smaller table top. This gives more space at the companionway, more clearance for the convertible seat (in either position) and significantly more clearance for the aft dining seat. The original top remains stored for the day she goes to a new owner.
The other issue with the table top, original or custom, is the top jiggles fore and aft - not much, but annoying. I made two table legs from 1 inch round wood stock, carefully cut to length to wedge under each corner of the table at the cabin wall.
This was done prior to our first trip to Florida with the boat 4 years ago and the intent was to make decorative legs from cherry stock finished to match the top and install with chrome plated hardware and screws top and bottom after we returned. But the two wooden rods have proceeded to work well just wedged in place and I have left it at that (ya know, path of least resistance and all that :mrgreen: )
