When you are speeding along in your very cool Ranger, please be sure that when you pass someone you allow room for them to accommodate your wake. Returning from the amazing Rendezvous today, one of our colleagues sped by us on the port side. There was no time to accommodate the wake i.e. turn into it and so we rocked and rolled. Fortunately, I had latched all the drawers and doors!

I'll second the courtesy vote: I was just about to enter Cap Sante Marina around 1:15pm today - Sunday 9/11/16 returning from Rendezvous;
A Ranger Tug (29 or 31 with full enclosure) which was about 1000 to 2000 feet behind me for maybe a mile or two - when I was about 300 feet from the marina entrance this SOB raced passed me at warp speed on my port side without any warning or good seamanship, drastically rolling my boat. They then had to come to a complete stop at the entrance because of incoming traffic lineup - maybe a 100 feet or less in front of me. Completely unnecessary maneuver.

When we are down south the odd time ( not nearly enough ) the big monster boats will ask on the radio for a slow pass.. We slow right down and they slowly pass us to avoid the Rock and Roll.. Not near enough do this, but it is a pleasant surprise.. I like to think the people passing so close just don't realize the grief it causes .. But sadly I think most just don't care.. It also is very amazing how many times we putt into a lock or a mooring and are just behind those that had to race there..
