I recently noticed that the Cutwater C242 has a wood companionway cover that hinges open with a strut to hold it in that position. I assume this cover is used when taking a shower and can more generally provide privacy when dressing or using the toilet. Since this cover is easier to use than the cloth cover used on the Ranger Tugs R23, I would like to know if the companionway on these two boats is the sane size and whether the C242 companionway cover could be used on the R23 as well? If so, I would assume the wood cover could be purchased and installed by an R23 owner. Thanks.

Hello Tugforme,

This isn't a modification that I've seen before on the R23. The biggest issue is that the two openings are different in size. The Cutwater 24 also uses a cherry wood finish compared to the Ranger 23 that is teak. I would recommend working with a local company to build something out of teak to match the rest of the interior if looking to replace the canvas.

Thank you,

-Tim
