What recommendations can anyone suggest for best pot puller that will not allow pot to scratch boat paint? I was planning for a Scotty and hear the boom is not long enough to prevent the scratches. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I use the Ace Line Hauler Brutus Pot Puller with the Ace Line Hauler Extension Boom. This boom is 29 3/4 inches long versus the standard boom that is 17 1/2 inches long. I also use 3 or 4 of the Kwik Tek Hull Hugr™ Fenders (24"L x 6"W x 2-1/2"D) which are hung from the railing along the hull below the boom.

My $0.02 worth. I just bought the Scotty and have used it 4 times now. Seems to work quite well. I just stop the winch before the trap hits the bottom of the boat and pull the rest up by hand avoiding scratches on the hull. It may not be as long or as heavy duty as others but considering cost and storage size it fits the bill for me. Shop around..... the prices are all over the map. I ended up purchasing at Pacific Net and Twine on Vancouver Island as they had better pricing than Amazon or Cabela's.
