We just posted a new video covering how we actually crab off the R27 — figured some of you might find it useful even if you're not gear-shopping.
  • How we rig 150ft crab lines, and reading the buoy telltale before you grab a pot so the line doesn't find your prop
  • Keeping crab alive on deck without water, and vacuum-sealing the same night
  • Two seasons in on our new Northwest Traps stackable pots
Filmed over opening weekend at Saddlebag Island (2025), four days total (one at anchor, two at the Anacortes Yacht Club reciprocal dock), 94 crab, 60 keepers.
No affiliation with the company, just sharing what's worked for us. Happy to answer questions and am always curious what other people are doing.

Great video - as always. Cool to see you cook the crab on the stove. Need to try that - we’ve always cooked ours on the beach/dock using a propane turkey fryer. Your way looks much easier.
