Here's my mainteneance sheet for our 2015 R21-EC. Feedback appreciated...

2015 Ranger Tug R21-EC Maintenance Sheet:


Clean exterior of boat

Change engine oil
Change engine filter
Change reverse gear oil
Change engine fuel filter
Change primary fuel filter

Check drive belts

Check engine idling adjustment

Check air filter

Open System:
Clean seawater filter
Flush the raw water system with fresh water
Conserve / winterize the raw water system with VCS

Closed System:
Drain the VCS anti freeze / coolant in closed system
Flush the heat exchanger with fresh water
Add new VCS anti freeze / coolant
Remove impeller and check for wear
Store impeller after lubing in a sealed zip lock bag

Fill the diesel fuel tank with treated diesel fuel

Replace all zincs (sacrificial anodes)

Check and spray all cables
Lube all steering parts

Hook batteries to solar trickle charger
Spray all electrical connections with water-repellent spray

Check Engine Mount bolts for tightness
Dehumidifier in cabin and rodent control
Remove hull plug
Warm soapy water through bilge

Spray propeller, bow thruster, rudder, etc with Aluma-Kote clear protectant

Touch up required areas with bottom paint

Looks pretty thorough to me and I am going to copy it for my list. I have an R25 so I don't know the systems for your boat. A couple things I do are give all of the coolant hoses as pull and a squeeze to see if I have any brittle spots or soon to be leaks. Check the flaps and behind the flaps in the cockpit drain system- sometimes stuff gets stuck in there. Check the compartment for the rear thruster, pull out the old super absorbent diaper that I put in last season and put in a new one. It has always been saturated when checked. I would rather have that in there than the water splashing around on the thruster connections. I had one thruster fail earlier from water contact- a tough removal and install.

The only thing I see missing are time intervals. Not all of them are the same.

Replace anodes ONLY is at 50% or less.

Check the necessary frequency of replacing the gear box oil with the Maintenance Manual. You may not need to do it.

Fill the fuel tank to its capacity to help avoid condensation in the tank.

Run a dehumidifier/heater in the cabin to avoid mildew and condensation.

If you don't intend the run the Refer, then leave the door ajar. If Refer left on set it to a low number such as 1 or 2. Remove any food, but can leave bottles of water. Clean the inside of the Refer. Don't leave cans of beer in the Refer... as they could explode.

Another poster mentioned ants were entering the bilge by way of the drain plug being removed. Why not leave the drain plug in if there's no danger of water getting into the cockpit.

Check for hose rub points with the engine and repair/replace as you see fit.

Remove all the Sunbrella seating fabric and wash them.

Check/inspect all lines for (salt) abrasion and wash them with fresh water and allow them to dry.

Check fenders for proper inflation pressures.

Polish all chrome railings and check for rusting at the weld points. Remove rust as you see fit.

There's no end to what to do for keeping a boat in good running condition.

don't forget to run antifreeze through your macerator and head system ...

and your freshwater tanks, pumps, faucets, and showers ,

and your bilge pumps and cockpit shower systems...

Thanks gang. I have modified my yearly maintenance list with the extra suggestions/ideas. I will of course decide each year what items may not need to be done, such as the closed system antifreeze flush/change, etc.
