The marina is adequate. We always stop there while cruising the keys. However, The docks are fixed and you will want to go bow in. The only way off the boat is from the bow. If you go stern in you will need a ladder to get off. The docking fee is marginal. Publix is two miles away. The ramp is nice, but I am not sure how they work the long term storage. They may not allow you to keep your rig there once you leave, so you better call to verify. There may be storage accommodations nearby, but I can't think of any names off the top of my head. From Key West up you could try Stock Island Marina for storage. Then if you travel north, New Found Harbor is a nice anchorage, Then Bahia Honda State Park. Heading to Marathon you may get a slip at Harbor Cay or Banana Bay. Banana Bay is convienient to Publix, Home Depot and a variety of other stores. A cab in Marathon is $5.00 anywhere from bridge to bridge. Heading north you can hit an achorage near the Bass shop in Moranda Bay - N24 55.498 W080 38.237 Go to Loralies for dinner. Heading north once you enter Blackwater Sound hang a right and go down the Marvin Adams Waterway to get on the East side and hit Pennekamp.
Sooo, If you start in Key West, Cruise north to Pennekamp and then rent a car to go back to Key West and pick up your rig. You can then pull the boat out at Pennekamp.
Have fun!
