Greetings Tugnutters;
Though we live on our boat in Puget Sound, we have a 2012 Ranger 27 that is kept on the east coast for the purposes of revisiting some the great places that we did while cruising the Great Loop and going to the places that we missed while on that year long, 6,000 mile change-your-life adventure.
We have just moved "Trilogy" from the RV storage yard in Brunswick, Georgia to Chesapeake Bay. This is our fourth trip on this boat. We launched at the state-owned ramp under the Highway 4 bridge in Maryland that is next to the town of Solomons. We highly recommend it: new floating docks, $10 launch fee and then stayed at the nearby Calvert Marina. With Boat US discount, $1 a foot per night and they allowed our truck and trailer to be parked there while cruising. If you are thinking about cruising the Chesapeake Bay, this is an option to consider.
We will be cruising for 21 days, anchoring and exploring the small towns on both sides of the bay. Another shoot out: we added a dinghy and settled on the Newport Vessels, 8' 6" long that fits into nice size bag for roof top storage. A big point for us was the 19" tubes that raises the freeboard and increases the capacity and stability. Though it will take a 10 HP motor, we are rowing it.
If you see us and our blue hull Ranger 27 with the gold "Looper" flag, meaning that we completed the Great Loop, please stop by or give us a toot on your horn.
