I've had a couple of inquiries into the custom cushions on one of our posted pictures. C Cushions, Inc. in Rockport, Texas makes all sorts of custom cushions out of that soft material similar to the old style water ski belts from the 1960's. Their catalog includes complete cushions (bottoms and sides) for various sailboat cockpits. On the back of this 2006 R21 is a rear back cushion-made of 2 sets of their 30" curved rail cushions (that are listed in their catalog) plus one straight cushion that is 25.5 inches long. These are easy to install, easy to clean, and comfortable. I take them off when trailering, but maybe that is not necessary. They have a website and say that they can make anything.

We had C Cushions on our Crealock 37 and they were great. They were comfortable and did not "get wet", i.e. wiping off dew or spray was all that was necessary to have a nice dry place to sit. I highly recommend them.

Both C-Cushions and Bottomsiders do a fine job with the closed cell cushions. They have some ready-made items and can custom make what you need. We've used both in the past on our sailboats with very good results.

On the cruise boats I drove last summer, we redid all the cushions with these, and just a word to the wise: the striping that they use smears badly if sunscreen rubs up on it. You can request the cushions without the stripe - I recommend that.

Closed cell foam doesn't get water-logged and will float.
