Hi Guys,

My 2020 Cutwater 24-C's Bimini canvas is looking a bit worn. Where can I get a replacement?

Thanks!

If it has the King Marine Canvas tag on it then suggest you contact them in Seattle. They have been doing most (all?) of the Bimini canvas for Fluid Motion. They have the patterns for most FM boats. If it was an aftermarket install and not King Marine Canvas then suggest you contact the selling dealer for who made your Bimini..

Hello
I would look into a hard top rather than canvas. Canvas is a real problem with rain puddling on the top. King Marine is great, but try to find a hard top. You will be a lot happier.

I'm a little surprised you didn't get more than 4 years out of it.

Mine started to go after ten years. I took the old canvas to a local canvas shop here in New Jersey. They made a new one for me using the old one as a pattern. I specified Sunbrella fabric and high end thread. They did a great job, I'm very happy with it.

What’s the weight of a hard top for the cockpit? Seems like that would really affect the CoG.

That is my concern as well... My old fiberglass tonneau cover for my GMC was about 70lbs, and it's just about the perfect overall size. But 70 extra pounds up that high? 😱

I was thinking of putting a 60# bag of concrete (or an easier-to-move equivalent) up top. That should give me an idea, at least.

I had a cockpit hardtop installed on my last boat, a Bayliner 3988. The rigid ceiling created more engine noise and made the station wagon exhaust effect worse.

But the biggest drawback is that the hardtop came with railing and before long a substantial amount of weight found it's way up there, exactly where that tail heavy boat didn't need it. Boot stripe, schmoot stripe.

I would love to have a hardtop on my 27ob but there are considerations.

I have a 2018 C24 and am still using the original Bimini. It has been restitched once and some new Velcro installed in places which I hope to get a couple more years out of it. A couple years ago I had planned on making a carbon fiber hard top which would have been perhaps under 20 lbs but I never got around to making it. If puddling is a problem do what Crusingelvinray did with the pvc pipe and tees. I did it and it worked great with very little puddling and cheap.

Tried a search for "Crusingelvinray Bimini" but only this post came up. Can you point the way for me, please.

Opting for a hard top over canvas can mitigate issues like rain puddling. King Marine is top-notch, but a hard top offers added convenience.
