Cutwater 24 diesel volvo 220 hp

Hi,
New to the forums. Looking at a Cutwater 24 with a diesel inboard engine. It seems like 99 percent of the 24 models have an outboard gas engine. Is this a sign that the diesel in the 24 is a bad option? Was this a normal option in the 24 at one point in time? I want a diesel engine but it seems thay the diesel is "normal" in the 28 but not the 24. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated. Honestly, I am a bit nervous about possibly getting a boat that has this "special" mod apparently.

Hi Stardogchampion,

Welcome to the forums! The 24 diesel was an I/O that we offered back in 2015 alongside the Yamaha outboard. That installation was discontinued due to, for lack of a better term, "lack of interest". It just didn't turn into a good seller for us because our customers were much more interested in outboards for boats of this size, than for I/Os. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with those boats, and it's just basically a matter of preference whether someone likes I/Os or outboards. Having said that, I would still highly recommend a thorough inspection of the boat, as it is potentially almost seven years old (you didn't mention the year) so you just want to make sure that the boat is properly sorted before making the commitment.
