Cutwater 30 CB with factory triple axel trailer. Need to hire company/driver experienced with boats to move from NY to SC. Requires launching the boat upon arrival and moving trailer to storage lot. Recommendations, especially ones where you personally used the driver, are appreciated. We already have a listing on UShip.

Also, trailer is for sale following this transport.

Thank you.

Sharron, I don’t have a driver recommendation but other suggestions. Whoever you hire I’d suggest you take any cockpit canvas off and secure the Bimini hardware. I’d also suggest there be transom straps plus an addition strap from the bow ring to the trailer. Make sure all the trailer tires are properly aired. Antenna and mast down, I secure mine with zip ties and rags to prevent accidents and scratches. Check with your insurance company to let them know you’ve hired someone to transport your boat as well as finding out what coverage the company or person you hired may or may not need.

Great suggestions Jim. I've taken note. We will be shrink wrapping the boat prior to shipping. Will this impede any of the tie down suggestions you've made?

Not at all, you should be fine. Shrink wrapping is a good idea but not needed, it’s a personal preference I guess. Most of us who trailer long distances do not shrink wrap. I’m not trying to talk you out of it, just making a point. Good luck.

Good to know. We are downsizing from sailboats always in the water so I forget that so many of the 27/28's and under are on the trailer and roads a lot. We're finding that the shrink wrap is expensive, too.

Ranger Tug/Cutwater shrink wraps the boats before shipping them to my dealer. My dealer curses Fluid Motion every time a boat arrives as the shrink wrap has fluttered for 3000 miles across the country. Now the dealer has to clean up the scratched gel coat before he can deliver the boat.

WOW, didn't think about that. That makes a big difference. You've been very helpful, Jim.

You may want to hang on to the trailer once you find out how easy it is to get from one cruising spot to another, like to the Kentucky Lakes, or the Canadian canals or even the Pacific Northwest. You get places faster and cruise longer!

I would be interested in buying the trailer, when your done with it.

Greg

Hi Greg.
We ended up not buying this boat. Got a different Cutwater 30 CB that did not have a trailer.
Thank you for your interest.
