How does one access and remove the hot water heater tank if it needs to be repaired due to a leak? (From improper winterization)....does one access it from above by removing the refrigerator or can one slide it out sideways after removing the fresh water tank? Thoughts please.

While I haven't had to think about removing the hot water tank we did have a small issue with our main fridge last year. A Port Boathouse Tech removed the fridge and made a better connection on the main power into the fridge which fixed the issue. But we did see that removing the fridge is relatively easy and while the fridge was removed we could see the entire water water tank below. It appeared as though the hot water tank would be fairly easy to remove once the fridge was out. A quick call to Fluid or Port Boathouse would confirm. My bet would be this would be the method to remove the tank. Good Luck!

Hello there,

The easiest way to remove for repair or replacement is through the cut out for the galley fridge. There are four screws holding the fridge in place, once out you can slide the fridge out and forward to allow access to then remove the hot water tank. I always remove the fridge door and brackets to make it easier and allow for more room once the fridge is out, remove the top hinge bolt for the door and then it will be able to be removed. Hope this helps and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to email me, my email is below in the signature.

Thank you,
Kevin Lamont

Thank you all, especially Kevin with gems regarding the removal of the refrigerator. We are on it now.

Related. For Cutwater 30 Isotemp water heater, is it normal that water is on heated during shore power and when engine is running? Am I correct in assuming that the water heater will not heat on inverter power? Thanks.
