Bellingham Yachts newsletter came out this am with an artist rendition of the new Cutwater 30 to be introduced at the Seattle boat show next month. Certainly rumors have been going around for a while. Will definately have to check out the new toys!

I am looking for the Ranger Tug 35

I'm with Herb !!! Still waiting for the 34/35 Ranger.

A Ranger 23 would be an instant hit. It could be a downsized 25 for those of us on smaller waters. I would by one instantly....almost sight unseen!

If the Ranger 23 was around $75K delivered (trailer and most options)...I too would buy it almost sight unseen. I think it would soon become the biggest seller for Ranger. The key too keep the weight under 5K lbs so that it can be towed by a normal pick-up and/or SUV.

I designed an R-22 based on the wider 25 hull quite a while back...It's free to Ranger for 50% off the first boat... 😀

I like it! Bigger engine (hopefully a little better hull speed...12 to 15 its), the separate head, and a little seating area inside the boat for eating and relaxing. Ranger Tugs...do the deal! ;-)

yes, yes, YES! Jack's R-22 was in the back of my mind. More beam, more room....almost perfect (almost bring that there is no perfect boat). I will make a down payment right now on Hull #1.

I showed the Admiral the drawing...she approved the purchase and asked when it would bet delivered! Seriously, it there a remote chance of something like this happening?

R-22 would be nice, just don't think many customers would want a head with no door. 😉

Door is just closed, fan on....cousin Ernie had eggs and chili for breakfast 😱

Oooops, I missed the all glass door between the head and the cockpit 😳

In any case, the head is a serious upgrade from the current R-21...and a door would be easily accommodated in the final design. Remember, I got dibs on Hull #1....

I am guessing for Ranger Tugs that marketing decisions are most likely made on what produces the most profit margins. It is a business and I think we all understand that. But their niche that got them there place in the market was building a model, the 25, that filled the gap when Nordic Tug quit making their 26. I think the 22' (...or '23) is the $75K model that I think will become their most popular model and successful model built. So the question is...do they make more profit of of selling fewer but larger boats? Or, would they make more money from selling more of a smaller boat but maybe with a little less profit margin?

Maybe the solution is that they do both! Produce a large number of finished Ranger Tug 23's with all options except a generator (maybe with hook ups for a Honda 2000) and continue to build the 29' plus boats on an 'order' basis. You, Ranger Tugs, already have 4 or 5 possible orders for a boat you are not even building...I think you should give it a look!

Some tug companies that we are all familiar with, started with something in the ... oh, let's say 26 foot range. It was an immediate sales success. As time progressed, there was the need to give current owners something to move up to. Pretty simple economics that selling bigger boats makes more profit... until the economy comes down and buyers stop buying the big stuff. Less of a problem for a company that continues to offer smaller boats to bring entry buyers in. Ranger Tugs was able to take advantage of that wide open market niche, and with a more attractive (opinion) product, designed to take advantage of trailerability.

There is a LOT of livability difference between a 21 and a 25 Ranger... another niche?

While we are identifying new niches for Ranger to fill I'd like to suggest an alternative version of my 27. Borrowing some features from Rosborough, it would have twin outboards, extended hard top, roof mounted AC, bow thruster, the Rosborough dinghy davit and also a tuna door. I'd put my deposit down for one of these.
