Several times when I take the boat out the power will only come up to 50% and the engine puts out black smoke. It seems the turbo is not turning on. Any suggestions
 
Remove the exhaust elbow and inspect for rust and soot build up. It sounds like the turbine side of the Turbo is not spinning up. If you try to turn the turbo impeller and you feel friction. Carefully clean the housing and impeller. After cleaning the Turbo the impeller should turn freely and smooth. If it does replace the sealing Gasket and install the elbow. Sea trial and record performance. If the performance numbers are still down and boost numbers shown from the EVC are low you may have a bearing or seal issue.
