#Firstpost Took ownership of our C-32 Coupe this past weekend. Looking forward to all the good times ahead.

Working on few modification. One that has me stumped is what to do with tender motor. My first choice would be the railing on the port side of the swim step. But, it is a single 1-1/4" pipe with nothing to keep a mount from slipping or spinning. I'm thinking of pulling off the railing an having an "L" shaped pipe welded to fit a mount on it. Any one else solved this issue? Thoughts?

We solved this issue using off the shelf parts and no welding. All the parts came from the factory and they even precut the tubing. Note that in addition to the spinning issue the swim rail needs to be stabilized by making a removable connection back to the boat. Ours is on a R27 but I assume the C-32 would be similar. We love the result as we keep the grill mounted on the boat stern rail.

Here are a few photos: Note that since taking these photos I mount the outboard inside the rail instead of on the outside? Just a better fit.

i managed to fit an outboard plate on the stern rail of the cockpit where the t section drops to the gunwhale. this way I can get the outboard off the swimstep and its super secure on the stern rail as the rail height is only like 10 inches.

the only think you have to watch is the outboard leg not mark the rubbing strip on the stern.

its not installed in this photo but you can see the t shaped strut on the port stern corner I mounted the outboard plate over

Thanks for the input. That is similar to what I am thinking. They beefed up the railing to 1-1/4 which is good for stability.
But there are not a lot of fittings options for 1-1/4 and most of the railmount like your only fit to 1". Hence the challenge

That would be my first option but they moved the propane locker right below it.

I had one put on the rear Transom of our 302. Because they put it right above the Propane locker my OB had to be tilted up. So I had them move the locker more to center and now it fits great.

Thanks, I'm going to look into that.

Following back up my motor mount, here is what we ended up with. Took a 12"x 12" x 1" HDPE and cut it down to 9"x 9". Used the left over piece to double it up for the hold down clamps. A few stainless bolt to hold it together with 3-U-bolts with nylon lock nuts to hold it onto the rail. Less than $40 is supplies. Working great so far. Does flex a little in choppy waves. Might add another brace down to the swim step to add stability.

i would definitely add a brace. I tried this position with just a 2.5hp and it was clear to me that any sort of boat movement let alone a big wave would put a huge load on the mounts to the swim step floor. bye bye engine and rail.

Dan I would like to know how you fastened your mount with the U-bolts to the horizontal rail. Maybe a photo could answer my question.
Thanks. Ken
