Have a 13 year old R25 and wanted to know about results of cleaning the fuel injectors

Not much to go on in your comment/question. If you are currently reaching full RPM and speed, no smoke etc then you are probably not going to see any difference if you clean/service the injectors. Age is probably irrelevant if you have low hours. If you are experiencing loss of power and speed, smoke, higher fuel burn etc then servicing the injectors would be a good step to take. ( Not a mechanic so just an opinion)

Thnks for the info
Had some rough starting with some smoke upon start so it turns out that we look at it as a preventative maintenance issue
Once again thankyou we are new to tugnuts and looking forward to breaking the ice with all good insights

I buy a gallon of Sea Foam every year or two on Amazon and put into 145 gal of diesel. Then I run the tank down at least a third, to prevent dilution.

Northland diesel service in Bellingham is a company that does fuel injector cleaning if you want to ask them some questions also to see if its something you should persue.

Injector repair with modern day common rail electronic injectors is not the same as the mechanical injectors. Mechanical injectors do need to be periodically tested ( pop test. The ejection timing is done by pressure, timing from the injection pump. The injector seat and spring tension is important for proper opening timing and spray. Yanmar recommends that mechanical injectors get pop tested every 1000 hours. IMO this is an aggressive proactive recommendation. I pulled my injectors last winter in my 4LHA STP Yanmar when the engines were at 1800 hours. Twin engines 4cyl. so eight injectors. All did not meet recommended specification of 275 Bar. all popped at 240bar to 250bar but not one was leaking before pop pressure. Basically functioning properly but popping below pressure.

The common rail injection is a completely different design. The advantage is there are tools that can diagnose how injectors are functioning and the operating perimeters can be monitored by the use of a Vodia tool and vodia diagnostic software. Using the diagnostic tool can save from injector removal and bench testing. I have always used an additive with my diesel engines. PRI-D is an additive that adds a stabilizer and a lubricant for injector pump internals and injector nozzle seat. The key for common rail injectors is ultra clean fuel and water free fuel. keeping the 10 micron primary filter clean and moisture free helps maintain the 2 micron secondary filter clean and moisture free. No dirt no moisture high pressure electronic injector components last many hours.

A GOOD Volvo Penta service technician that is experienced and trained to use a Vodia tool can do a health check of the operating parameters of the D3, D4 and D6 Engines used in the Fluid motion boats.
