I want to do an oil change for my compressor as part of the 4y/800 service on the D4 engine.

I was able to source the compressor oil (p/n 85108974). From my understanding, crush washers/gaskets are on both the drain and fill plugs. I'd rather try and get an OEM replacement part here, and spend $30 for a 30 cent piece of copper 😀 , instead of trying to source an at-kind replacement but coming up empty in my search.

Has any one done this maintenance before? What did you use?

Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your question.
But I do have a question. Have you confirmed that your D4 actually has a compressor??? Most of the Volvo D4's that RT uses did not come with the compressor.

Obviously some could have, but I have never seen one. I have had this same conversation with a couple of other owners and they also did not have a compressor - discovered after having purchased the parts to service it.

I hope that helps.

That is a great question! I'll have to take a look next time I'm on the boat.

I was strictly following the maintenance schedule and assumed all boats would have them. But then again, the maintenance schedule says to check engine zincs, and most of us don't have those either - a question often asked on the forum to much confusion.

Rocky - you were right. My D4 does not have the supercharger. I feel a bit silly buying the oil before checking but thankfully it will still go to good use to someone with a D6.

I am glad I could help.
If it makes you feel any better, I know of others that bought that expensive oil as well.... 🙂

You just save enough time to have a second beer at the end of your day of engine service!

Thanks!!

Rocky
