Hi All

I would appreciate any comment on Dagmar's Marina in Everett. We are going to start our summer season on the Puget Sound.....whenever we can escape the quarantine.....and are looking for a marina with dry storage and easy/quick launchings and take outs. Dagmar's seems to meet our desires, but we'd like to hear from folks who have actual experience. We've seen one comment questioning the security of the dry storage area and the efforts of their security people. If anyone could weigh in we'd appreciate it.

We're also considering Twin Bridges in Mt. Vernon but our number on their waiting list has not moved in months.

Many thanks.

We used to live in Everett, know friends that have kept boats at Dagmars, and have cruised our tug up the river past Dagmars.

Our friends said the boat was always ready to go when needed with just a call. Things to be aware of include: the time it takes to get in and out down the river from there. I believe it is all a 5 knot zone until Port Gardner so it takes a bit of time. Also, at very high tide you may have to wait for the railroad bridge to open. There also can be deadheads and such that come down the river after a storm so you need to be diligent with a watch.

We kept our previous boat at Dagmar's and loves it. Security was never a problem for us, and with just a phone call the boat would be in the water waiting for us.
We keep our current boat in Anacortes because we prefer cruising in the San Juan Islands, but there are plenty of places to go, and things to do near Dagmar's as well.

Twin Bridges in Mt. Vernon near the slew to LaConner is indoor storage so you do not have to winterize your boat. I am not sure they handle a 31 foot boat but we keep our R29 there. It’s very secure and easy access to the San Juan Islands.

I saw you mentioned in your post your spot at Twin Bridges hasn't changed in months... without question, they have a good great location relative to the PNW's best cruising grounds... San Jaun Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands... they are very popular!

I would try Bayside Marine, which has dry storage with call-in for launch-ready-to-go. They are within the Everett Marina, down river from Dagmars... much quicker! They likewise will have a high occupancy rate.

Good luck!

I have been "moored" at Dagmar's for the past 12 years. I cannot see myself leaving there anytime soon. Like everywhere, Dagmar's has its pros and cons. I'll list them as result of my experience there .

Pros:
Your boat is stored "dry". Maintenance and upkeep is much easier, zincs last years rather than months, no bottom paint required.
Price is reasonable and staff are friendly and helpful.
Launches and retrievals are simple, quick, and safe. You can even call ahead and your boat will be in the water waiting for your arrival.
Boat access is 24/7. In fact, we have stayed on our boat while on-the-hard when our house was flooding and other occasions.
Super long linear moorage dock on the river, open year round with no charge to members. It does get full on summer weekends.
Security has improved. Camera's, gates, lights, and Security officers has tempered theft. There was a time when a boat next to mine had the outboard stolen twice and I had a ladder and a gas can taken.
Water and electricity are available for all stored boats.
Clean bathrooms.
Always fresh baked cookies available in the office.

Cons:
The river current changes with the tide - outgoing tide the river runs downstream into the Sound, incoming tide the current runs upriver. The water can move swiftly making entering the finger docks for take-out sometimes challenging. Each tide direction requires different techniques. Some plan for slack tide arrivals. You'll be accomplished at it in one summer.
There is a railroad "swing bridge" that must be negotiated coming and going. In 12 years we have only been delayed more than 15 minutes twice (multiple trains). The call is to Bridge 37 on channel 13 and request a swing. Our Cutwater 28 can pass under the bridge with the antenna down at a 4' tide and lower.
The actual "No Wake" zones are in front of Everett Marine, under Bridge 37 and in front of Dagmar's. All the rest, I believe >2 miles, is unregulated.
The Snohomish River at Dagmars is still salt-water, don't expect a fresh-water flush as you return to the dock.
No showers.
Dagmar's is located close to an asphalt grinding plant. The air is dirty and your boat gets dirty. Some use covers, some, like me, spray it off before we go out.

Hope this is helpful,
Gary

Thank you. That's very helpful.

Thanks very much. I'm hopeful.

I had my previous boat at Dagmars before moving to Skyline in Anacortes, Cesna172 covered most of my pros and cons as well. I hated the filth from the freeway and asphalt plant. We ultimately moved to be closer to the San Juans. Skyline has shed storage you might want to check into. They can do large boat like Dagmars but they charge for each launching on boats over 25'. You might give them a call if your interested in being north. Depends on your where you go and how many trips you make on what your best option will be.
