Here in the Seattle area the forecast is for the high temperature to get into the low 90s with some humidity. Death Valley's forecast is for around 130ºF (was 134ºF in 1913 if I recall correctly from the radio recently). We have house A/C but don't get to use it much here, but will be doing so when temps/humidity get this high. I start the A/C for cooling when 72ºF is reached first thing in the morning and don't turn it off until late evening. I recall stinking hot days in Georgia, Virginia and Connecticut where we have lived in the past and where A/C was a necessity especially for elderly people. The night time temps were the worst as I recall.

What will be your high temps over next week ?

Without a/c in the humid Georgia summer, "You in a heap 'o trouble son"

Highs forecast mid 80's this week, humidity 50-80%

Too hot to mess around in a boat without AC in the Central Valley: 100 on the way to a peak of 106 this afternoon.

Seattle above 90? I can only imagine the chaos of sweaty hipsters, baristas, and tourists scrambling to find shade in the streets. Something out of La Mappa dell'Inferno by Sandro Botticelli?

You can tell which Dan Brown novel I am reading the comfort of my air conditioned home.

This thread might go to what happens to your boat when it gets really cooked by the sun. The hydraulic fluid weeps out of my steering column at the helm. And the teak oil volatilizes, drying the wood quickly. Normally humidity is not an issue here.

It' supposed to be cooler today with a 20 percent chance of rain in Houston. Forecast is for 97 degrees and 69 percent humidity. Yesterday's High was 107 with cautions to stay inside. Texas has the highest heat related deaths recorded each year.
Yanmar specs say not to run a 3ym30 in temps above 104 degrees ambient as the engine will not cool properly.

Herb,

That's funny, but you forgot to tell folks that Texas is "God's Country". Because God gave the devil the choice between he** and Texas, and the devil said, "Give me he**, Texas is too hot!". Thus, Texas is "God's Country". LOL

Here in PNW Seattle area we have be given a "dangerously high heat alert' today. Temps will get into mid 90s. Humidity is falling and cooler temps later in the week are forecast. The last time I recall having extended and continuous high temps in this area was in 1977, but that was in the August timeframe. I suspect the high temp today will set a record for this time of the year in Seattle.

Years ago I used to live on Whidbey Island. We used to say we would get only one day of summer, and that was on the 4th of July, and that was if it didn't rain. I remember some years it rained and shot the heck out of summer. 😉 😎

Rick---
You know us well.
You also probably heard us say, "A good summer in the PNW is one that comes on a weekend."
Just checked the weather report and it looks like this is going to be it.
