Hi, the hatch to my battery compartment is stuck locked shut!

I went to open it and it just turns but doesnt turn the catch underneath the locker! any ideas how to get in and fix it!?

can I just unscrew from the top?

I have a feeling it is just the gasket that is stuck to the fiberglass. Make sure the turn latch is in the right position and try to open it up. Maybe use a wedge or something to gently pry on the base of the edges.

Thank you,

Hi,
I had the same problem on my Cutwater. Came out one day and could not open the hatch.
I tried standing on the hatch, not standing on the hatch, slightly prying under the hatch while turning the latch. Also trying
during the heat of the day or a cold night but nothing seemed to work.
The dealer finally decided that it would have to be drilled out and replaced. I was out of town for about a week and when i returned I tried the above to again open the hatch and this time I finally got it to open. I'm glad this did not have to be drilled as there was no way to get to this latch from the adjoining compartment.
What happened is the latch was not tight and it was able to spin on the bolt shaft. So after I opened it I tightened all the hardware and put a small dab of JB Weld on the parts to ever keep this from happening again.

I had the same issue with my C28. I had the dealer fix it but was told you could gain access to the hatch hardware by removing the rear seat and storage bin lid.
