I'm still waiting for factory responses to my posts of June 5 and 6.

It appears some, or all, of my concerns are shared by other R-21 EC owners and solutions haven't been provided. With exception of the table in the R-25 most of the R-25 concerns seem to be taken care of.

I am sorry I haven't got back to you. It might be best that you give me a call at the office. 253-839-5213. Thanks again for being patient.

Andrew, I enjoyed our talk yesterday. Thanks for all of your input and advice. I'm sure it will be helpful.

I finally downloaded my photos of the fuel vent sytem to my laptop. Looked at the male/female connection on the tank that we discussed. I noticed the factory used a sealer in that joint, can you tell tell me what to use?

I'm looking forward to hearing from Yanmar on the max rpm issue.

Gene

I tried to private message you, but I think it's beyond my personal skills to use the system. I'm glad there isn't a skill level test before becoming a Tugnut. 😀

Thanks for the care package. Will the flush mount filler fit? What sealer should I use with the 90 degree fitting.

Gene

Gene,

Have you heard from Yanmar? If so, what did they say? Like you, my max RPMs are in the same range as yours. Just courious to know what they said.

Thanks,
Bri

Bri,

Haven't heard from Yanmar, yet.

In the past couple of days my max rpm under load has fallen from 3375 to 3200 to 3000 rpm. I think my primary fuel filter is partially clogged and getting worse. I also think I felt some surging, like it needed more fuel.

Gene

Gene,

I never would have thought the fuel filter could cause that, at least not in my case with only 22 hours on the engine. Unless there was some particles remaining in the fuel tank after manufacture.

I get around 3200 to 3325 on my tachometer. I have never seen more then 3350.

How many hours do you have on yours now?

Bri

A comment that Gene made has brought to light a problem that we have had with Orion. At 26 hours the engine oil, oil filter, and fuel filter were changed. The fuel system was bled as per the Yanmar manual. At around 32 hours I noticed an engine surge above 3,000 RPM. Below that and all is normal. I again bled the fuel system, no change. I replaced the new fuel filter and still have a surge above 3,000 RPM. Is there some commen problem here? I am going to check for air one more time before taking the boat out next week.

Dan

Dan, please describe your "engine surge"....

I'm going to move this discussion to a separate posting with a different subject.
