Well, maybe in a week. They are getting her ready.

Looking for some pointers on the delivery process. How long should a proper orientation take?
Not sure if they are going to go very deep in operation of some things like the chartplotter or not, is that customary?

My plan is to spend a few days in the area (on the water) fooling around, checking things out and getting adjustments or repairs as needed. The dealership is adjacent to the marina. I'm assuming I'll have a slip there to use. Hope to anchor out one or two nights. This is the Charleston, SC area. Not sure yet how far I'll wander, and if it's better to go north or south.
More interested in shaking the boat out than doing any serious adventuring or sightseeing. Any tips on that area would be great.

How many hours on the engine and the systems would you be comfortable enough to load her up on the trailer and return home (about 200 miles away?).

I didn't have this luxury, but I have heard that if there are two of you, have one person take notes as systems are explained, etc. Are you buying from a dealer? Just ask the dealer how much time is allowed for orientation. ....

When we took delivery of our R27 in Seattle our orientation took about 3 hours, from launching the boat, to dock side orientation, a cruise at various speeds, re trailering the boat and back to the factory. When in Charleston be very careful if the tide is running, it can get going fast at peak run...making docking problematic.

We took delivery of a new 2015 R25SC last May and likewise live about 200 miles from our dealer located in Michigan and had the same concerns. I think a lot depends on your prior boating experience. We had been boating for 30 years and typically did all our own maintenance etc., although never had a Volvo diesel before. We spent about half an hour on land going over the boat and then launched it and spent a few hours on the water doing orientation. We dropped off the captain that was giving us the orientation and spent the night on it and took a short cruise the next day before putting her back on the trailer, which the staff person assisted with the first time. The boat had 9 hours on it when we pulled it out. (The dealer had put about 3.5 hours on it in their shakedown cruise the week before we arrived for delivery.) The next time I launched it (at night in the rain) I struggled because I could not figure out how to waive the "fob" correctly to get the keyless ignition to work. Once I go that figured out, we have been good to go. Everything has been wonderful with the boat since then. The Audrey Rose has 62 hours on her and is peacefully sleeping in her garage waiting for spring. The only issue I have had is that when Volvo installs the on engine fuel filter they use some machine that puts it on at least one full revolution more than necessary and it is an absolute pain to get off (like 8 hours and all kinds of tools and crowbars one should not need to remove a properly installed filter).

S. Todd,
I feel your pain as I too experienced an over tightened filter.
Mine was my oil filter on my D1-30 Volvo. I had to do the old
‘drive a screw driver through the filter’ to get it to budge.
This year I get to tackle the fuel oil filters. Wahoo.

Monday the 29th is the day! Very excited. Everything is ready, including my RIB.

Any last minute advice other than the above?

Wow, 5 days! That's great. I had 1 and I think that is enough. Mostly I needed familiarity with the electronics package. It doesn't look like there is really much in the way of daily checks, nor excessive engine maintenance. It all struck me as fairly routine.

I told them my use - mostly fresh, some salt and trailer use. They recommended a bottom paint and a clear coating for the running gear. Don't have the specs in front of me, but I'm sure they'll give you the same if you ask.
