Desolation Sound 2012 - UPDATED INFO (Warning long post!!)

Good work Bob!!! We will get Bruce to post that on the Rendezvous website too!! Looking forward to seeing all of you as you head into Ganges next week!!!!

Gail (and Patrick too!)

We thank Richard and Claire of "Restless" for the info on the 8 cent fuel savings at La Conner. Thank you guys.
Bob

Patrick and Gail,

We echo the "Thank you" sentiments of many! When you update your list, please add our names to the official roster of Ranger attendees, per our previous email exchange.

We are Rich and Shirley Rutkowski. Our boat is the "Island Ranger 29." Model is R-29, of course. We plan on being in Ganges in the early evening on the 27th, and, in addition to all of the stops, will plan on staying at Gorge for 2 nights.

Thank you!

Rich

Hi Patrick and Gail - can't wait to see you guys in your home waters.

We depart Elliott Bay Marina Wednesday morning. We'll spend the night at Cap Sante, Thursday night at Poet's Cove, and arrive in Ganges Friday afternoon.

Hope to see some Tugnuts on the water.

Cheers,

Bruce & Vicki

Patrick and Gail, We made it up here from Utah and are planning on leaving Everett tomorrow morning (Wednesday) and spending a couple of nights at Roche Harbor. We will then head up to Ganges for the big trip on Friday. Hope to see you soon. Doug, Jan and Max.

We are more than excited to see everyone soon!!!!
😀

Patrick and Gail,

Unfortunately, I was too optimistic in my previous email. Shirley and I, and "Island Ranger 29," will not be coming on the Desolation Sound cruise. For the past 5 or 6 days I have been contending with a major sinus infection. It has laid me low. Yesterday, I received a much stronger antibiotic prescription from the doctor, and my optimism for improvement soared. While it seems to be helping, I'm nowhere near well yet, and the medication comes with its own side effects that wreak havoc on one's digestive tract! So, my decision is to medicate and get well on land, rather than on the water. Probably a prudent decision, given that the infection has spread to both eyes.

Our plan, then, is to launch the boat approximately one week later, and cruise the San Juans and Gulf Islands. Our hope is to connect up with Tym and June on the "Circle T" and visit Chemanius, Butchart Gardens, and perhaps other attractions.

We wish all of the cruise participants good passage and good times! Thank you Pat and Gail for your hard work and understanding. We will be attending the Bremerton Rendezvous, and look forward to seeing all there.

Rich and Shirley

The Ranger Tug Fleet is starting to assemble. Rich, we are sorry that you are not well and will miss the trip. We hope to see you in Bremerton though. Moondance is enroute to Anacortes and plans to arrive before happy hour this evening. Circle T with Lincoln aboard arrived yesterday. Auklet dropped by for a visit yesterday and will be following the cruise on this forum. Nudibranch along with Willies Tug changed out their bottom engine zincs. Nellie Too and a Cutwater are leaving this morning for Montegue Harbor. Cascadia, Base Camp Anne may not leave until Friday for Ganges. Andrew and Carlene R27, Jeff and family R29 will be leaving from Skyline.

I am really looking forward to seeing a group of Ranger Tugs this size assembled at Ganges. Should be quite a sight.

Patrick and Gail have you fully considered the consequences of your decision?

Rich and Shirley, we will miss you and look forward to seeing you later in the season.....everyone else....hurry up and get here!!! We cannot wait to see all of you!!!

Well Herb, I have considered the consequences of Patrick's decision, but I cannot speak for him!!! I think we will have fun!!! 😀

Well the tugs are running north. As I sat on Camano Island this am watching 3 tugs go by , I took my C-Dory to the water and of course passed all 3 enroute to La Conner. Of course I had to pass throught the big wakes with my boat. Another tug was fueling when we pulled into the docks. Of course leaving the La Conner docks in a cross wind and having Sundance push me away from his dinghy made me remember those famous words from Jeff, "the standard bow and stern thruster take al the fun out of docking"!!!!! Ok Jeff we were drooling at all the 29's.

It was great fun seeing all the Tugs in Desolation Sound. While anchored near several in Squirrel Cove we spotted our favorite. Tradition was close by, a 29 I believe. The color, uninterupted by a trim stripe was perfect. The boat was also equipped nicely. Thumbs up to the owners!

Oh Darn Roger, I thought sure Willies Tug would be your favorite...grins. Traditions is a very nice 29. Jorge and Marcus will appreciate your compliment.
