Looking for anchorages with dinghy accessible areas that make it easy to get the dog ashore.
Anybody have their favorites?

Roscoe Bay (tidal entry), Von Donop...

Toba Wilderness Marina a great stop. Also, see if Laughing Oyster in Okeover Arm still open... great food... Best on Friday night at owner jam session!

My dog-friendly anchorages (blending Discovery Islands and Deso) are Octopus Islands, Squirrel Cove, Heriot Bay, and want to second Roscoe Bay. Also Cortes Bay, Gorge Harbor, Copeland Islands, Tenedos Bay to name some more. We always ask ourselves “would our dogs like it here?” The plan is to bring them with us next time.

Woof!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Did not initially realize that not all anchorages have accessible landing spots. Getting the pooch ashore often enough may be more of a stressor than we anticipated.

Most anchorages we’ve been to in Desolation Sound and the Discovery Islands have landing areas for dinghy’s. But not all of the landings may be close by to where you have anchored. Many of the anchorages require stern ties to chains, trees or rocks on a steep shoreline - Tenedos Bay, Laura Cove, Walsh Cove, Melanie Cove and others.
Some landings are very rocky and slippery with seaweed. Some are slightly to significantly muddy. Many have sharp oyster shells seemingly everywhere - in the mud, mixed in gravel and hard anchored to rocks.
A hard bottom dinghy is a real asset up there as protection against the rocks and oyster shells. Be aware that you can get significant tidal swings in a short amount of time. And, if bringing a dog ashore please be respectful - bag and carry out the waste.
