I had a thought about using my electric motor instead of buying an outboard motor. I am wondering if anyone here use an electric motor whith their dinghy? If so, how do you keep the battery charged when underway with the tug? In my tug, I have one battery for the house and one for the starter. Could I connect the dinghy battery somehow to the alternator?

Are you talking about a standard battery or one that comes with a Torqeedo? I have the Torqeedo and made a plug that goes into the standard 12V outlet and keep it topped off after use. If you are talking about a standard 12V battery I would probably set up a spot where I could run a switched positive battery cable and a ground and parallel it off of one of the batteries when I was running. A bit of work, but effective. Another thought would be one of those small solar panels that keep batteries topped off.

Knotflying,

Just a regular deep cycle battery. I like the idea of a solar panel.
