Can anyone offer me advice on how to best transport a 2.5 dinghy outboard on the R23? Thanks for the help.

The fact that you have a Gasoline powered Tug. You have options as to where to store the motor. Assuming you mean HP 2.5 outboard which is relatively light (30 lbs). You can easily mount the motor using a bracket attached to a cockpit or platform rail. Or install a trolling motor bracket and mount the motor there where it can be used for emergency. Yes a 2.5 hp is enough power to push a 23' boat. Not fast, not against a strong current, but enough power to get you out of a channel and to a location that is safe to drop anchor while you wait for assistance.

An outboard motor that size can easily be supported by a starboard motor pad.
