Dingy for Cutwater 28

Would like to add dingy to our boat and want something lighter than the factory hard bottomed option as we won't be using it much. Considering 7' 7" Achilles(hapholon)with inflatable bottom from Defender. Add to that a 2.5 Yamaha or Torquedo
Any thoughts or other suggestions would be appreciated. Weight of my wife and I about 320lbs. No dogs

I have an Achilles and it is a good boat. The inflatable floor may give you problems as it gets older, the seams will leak air and repairs are costly. I gave up on the inflatable floor and made a replacement out of marine plywood. Achilles offers wood floors as options on many models, check out their website. I have a 2 HP Honda and it pushes it just fine.

After several years of repairing the leaks on several different things, I bought a walker pay 10 for my ranger 25. It was nearly 10 years old when I bought it, with the sailing rig and all the goodies, for about $700.

I added weaver davits a little bit of cleanser and three years later it still looks like today was manufactured. With the addition of some flotation to replace the factory tubes that were not, the day is smooth easy zero, carries A small engine that I don't even bother with because Rose easily enough, and it sounds like a dream when I want to zip around the Anchorage.

Sometimes a month or so goes by and we don't use it either because were in the Marinas or because we're not on board. It isn't quite as large as the factory Livingston, but half the price or less than 1/10 the maintenance, it beats both inflatable at a larger doing like a Livingston or Portland pudgy.

No special rigging is required to Lift it up right onto the swim platform where it sits like it was born with the boat.

Have a look at kaboats. They offer inflatable kayaks with tubes of the size of a dinghy. 50lbs and stores on the roof rack

We have the Zodiac 230 with inflatable floor which is very similar to what you are looking at. It is a little crowded with the two dogs, which you don't have, but works fine for us. We have Hurley H2O davits on the platform which remove and store very easily if and when you want a clean platform. If I was doing it again, I would do it the same way. I do not boat with barnacles and the inflatable is not out in the sun for extended periods of time so no problems with leaks. I prefer my inflatable kayaks (Innova brand) for touring around, but the 66 lb labradoodle does not fit in them.

CapStu, doesnt your walker bay 10 overhang the beam of your ranger 25? do you have problems docking?

The Walker Bay 10 does hangover a tiny bit on the starboard side and a fair amount on the port side. Because of the docking layout and the way the boat is Laid out, I always stock starboard too.

About half the time I forget the Walker Bay is there and whack the tip on a pole when I leave. Clearly with thrusters on the both ends, there's no reason to I just get sloppy.

The Walker Bay 8 eight is a little tippy and tight.
