I would like another seat for my dingy but am having a hard time finding one. The model says it is an RT 290 RIB. Anyone have any insight where I might find one? My boat is a 2017 and the dingy came with it. The seats are the ones with a slot that slide over a tab on the dingy tube.

try Zodiac to see if they have one. I think its a Zodiac OEM dinghy.

That’s one of the first places I looked. First, they do not show our model. Second, even if they did it is long out of production and they do not sell parts for them. The new models they have now are a totally different configuration and are not compatible. A web search does not find any seats that will work. Some are close but I am not sure they would work. I am hoping someone either has one laying around that they do not need, or have used another brand with successful results that they could recommend.

Look on Amazon and eBay. You might find something that you can modify. A friend says you don’t want a second seat since the center of gravity will be too high. I have the same boat and I was debating whether to get a second seat.

The reason we want it is because the longitudinal CG is to far aft with two aboard. I was hoping to move the smaller CG person further forward. The height would be the same as the two of us on one seat. Maybe even better lateral CG/stability since we could both sit closer to the mid line of the boat. I could see your friends point if someone were moving from the deck/floor up to the seat but we are both already sitting up on the seat. I was hoping to not have to build it but I will if I have to, I see there are parts to be had. Just wanted to keep it stock looking if possible.

I can't help with sourcing, but can say that we added a 2nd bench to our RIB 290 three years ago and have not experienced any concerns with it being overly top heavy. The second bench has been great and we've never considered removing it. We use a Torqeedo and don't go very fast, though. (FWIW we got it from RT parts department before that closed down.)
