Looking to see what length that people recommend for a 29' Ranger.
Looking at getting a inflatable w/ a hard floor.

Just got a new zodiac fastroller. 9’6”. Inflatable floor but they also have a folding floor version. Mounted on Weaver davits.

What size engine do you have on that zodiac?

Matt,
There are several Topics posted about dingy's on Tugnuts. What works for one person my not work for the other. The question is what Dingy works best for you. What do you plan to use it for? What passenger capacity? Are you rowing or powering the dingy? Is light weight and portability a priority? Are you going to use it to transport a dog to shore?

We have a Gala 270. It is a great dingy but doesn't check all the boxes. We use it as a second boat when Lake Michigan is to rough to go out on. The Marina harbor is quite large and there is a river that we can cruise up with restaurants and bars. The dingy has a 4 passenger capacity and 10 hp capacity. When the lake is calm and we just want to go to the near by beach we use the dingy. When we are cruising in the Cutwater it is weaver davit mounted and does block the view aft and adds stern weight to an already stern heavy boat. There are times that a smaller roll up with inflatable floor or wood floor would be a better option. Roll it up throw it on top. Honestly no matter what dingy you get its not going to check all the boxes. This year I decided has long as we have the RIB it is going to have the max HP so when we use it as our second boat we can get somewhere with it. A cooler of drinks, Basic safety gear, blue tooth speaker (Cubs Game) My wife and I were Scooting up the Root River 21mph. Not for everyone but fun for us!

Thank You Brian & others.
Mainly the dingy would be for if we stayed on the hook. Would want a small outboard for it.

Would a 10'6" dingy be a problem on a Ranger 29S (10' beam)?
Thanks,
Matt Murphy

If you trailer your boat, you would be over the width limit unless you stored it somewhere other than the swim step. It could also hit the dock or snag on pilings when tying up or leaving. I would stick with something narrower than the vessel it will be mounted on, but it depends on how you use it.
