I was in love with the concept of those fold-out bow seats on the R29, but learned Ranger Tug stopped installing them in 2017.

-Anyone know why the factory stopped including them?
-Do you have the bow seats? Do you like them? Any downsides?

I want to add the seats to a 2018 R29 and curious on any tips or advice folks have... I have the hatches, just not the folding cushions & mechanism.

Thanks,
Austin

Austin: we have the portable seats you mention on our R29S. Like you we thought they were a good idea but in reality we’ve only used them maybe twice in 2 1/2 years. Our usage would indicate we’ve hauled them around for very limited use when we could use that room for other storage.....but that’s just us.

its funny what you want when you dont have it.

one of biggest frustrations with the cutwater 28 for my usage is lack of lounging space. the cockpit seats are not conducive to laying down as a 6 foot person

i can lie between the anchor windlass and the forecabin bulge but its not super comfortable. I have also placed a lounge chair up there which is pretty good.

Ive always admired the bow seats on the cut30 as a way to hang out in the sun even if it was lying.

what I really want is a cushion option or starboard frame with cusion that mounts on the bow over the hatches and creates a lounge area. I suspect a different boat really is the right option however.

Austin:

I’m stopping at our boat tomorrow, Monday. If you’d like, PM me your email address and I’ll take some photo’s and measurements for you to send to you.
